The Ministry of Water, Irrigation, and Energy (MoWIE) has declared designs to finish the development of Koysha hydropower venture in three years.  With a 2,160 megawatts age limit, Koysha is the second-biggest hydropower venture in Ethiopia, close to the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD).
